“I have been fortunate to complete both Helen’s Pregnancy and Postnatal Series. On reflection I came to realise just how crucial Helen was to me in ensuring a calm and empowered approach to my first pregnancy. Her knowledge and experience in natural movement and its importance both during and after pregnancy is exceptional and fascinating. I now use her techniques daily as they are so easy to fit into everyday life. She’s definitely helped me move both differently and more consciously. Helen is such an intuitive and supportive practitioner, I learnt more from my time in her classes than from any antenatal course or midwife! I can’t recommend her classes highly enough. ”

Frequently Asked Questions

I have just had my baby - how soon can I join the course?

Congratulations!  You can join us in class as soon as you have had your GP 6/8wk check.  Before then, feel free to get in touch to reserve your space in class,  fill in the screening form and know that your place is ready and waiting for you.

You may also be interested in the Closing the Bones Massage that will both nurture and support you in those early days after birth.

Can my baby come to class?

Yes!  And if you need to bring an older sibling you can.  The daytime class is suitable for babies, toddlers and pre-school children.  We understand that life sometimes needs the ability to juggle!  We hope to make it a little easier and show how easy this movement journey can fit into your life.

I love my baby but I really would love some time just for ‘ME’

We understand!  We now offer a class on Friday evenings where you can join other mothers to release the stresses of the week so you can start the weekend recharged and refreshed!

What happens if I miss a class?

The Post Natal Series is much more than just your class!  You will be supported with both offline and online resources, but we understand life with a new baby can be unpredictable and we will do our best to work with you.  If you need to miss classes or stop altogether for medical reasons, we are happy to work something out with you in terms of transferring onto The Move Well Series when life settles down or offering a refund.

I’ve signed up - what happens next?

Once your booking and payment have been received, you will be sent a link to a secure online health screening form.  Please complete fully then ‘SEND’ and I will see you in class soon.

Is the class high intensity?

No!  Pregnancy created a lot of extra demands on your body. Your new body needs to be nurtured.  ‘Getting back your fitness’ is not just doing what you did pre-pregnancy.  The postnatal period is the first year after having a baby.  What you do or don’t do during this time affects you for life, it is the reason so many cultures worldwide have the 41day postnatal period which is honoured and respected.  Post Natal Depletion is real and it can be still affecting mothers years (sometimes over 10years) after giving birth. Take the time to recover, heal and strengthen – your body will thank you!

Does my baby need to be in a sling for this class?

No!  Although I love slings, which can be an amazing life saver for many new mothers - I just don't believe your Post Natal body is ready for exercising with baby in a sling.  Pregnancy created a lot of extra demands on your body. Your new body needs to be nurtured.  ‘Getting back your fitness’ is not just doing what you did pre-pregnancy, with your baby in a sling.  The postnatal period is the first year after having a baby (whether this is your first or 8th baby!)  What you do or don’t do during this time affects you for life.  It is the reason so many cultures worldwide have a 41day postnatal period which is both honoured and respected.  Post Natal Depletion is real and it can affect mothers years after giving birth. Take the time to recover, heal and strengthen – your body will thank you!

I still have pelvic girdle pain (SPD) from pregnancy - will this class be suitable?

Yes!  The class has helped to either significantly reduce or relieve SPD altogether (sometimes years after giving birth).  Please know it is never too late and there is always something that you can do.

I have a Diastasis Recti (Abdominal Separation) – will this class help?

Yes. Absolutely!  By discovering how you are moving now (and why!) helps you to understand why you have Diastasis Recti.  Learning how to align your body and breathe better your core will be able to function better.

I have (think I have) a Pelvic Floor Dysfunction – will this class help?

If you suspect or know that you have a hernia, prolapse or that ‘something doesn’t feel right’ please see your Doctor first for a diagnosis.  You may need to be referred to a Women’s Health Physio (WHP) first.  The Post Natal Series is likely to be safe for you but it is best is you have a diagnosis so that we make sure everything you do is safe and working towards your recovery.  We are very happy to work alongside your Doctor, WHP or other Health Professional.

I have never been to class before – what do I need to bring?

Just yourself!  Getting to class can often be the hardest thing – to make it easier the studio is fully kitted out with mats, bolsters, blocks and straps to ensure you can modify where you need to for a comfortable class.
